Garthenor Organic Preseli

Preseli is what happens when you chase softness all the way and then spin it into something special. It’s Garthenor's softest yarn to date: a buttery smooth fingering weight blend built on a foundation of ultrafine Polwarth wool. From the moment it runs through the machines, it’s clear this fibre behaves differently - temperamental, airy, cloudlike - but absolutely worth the effort.

Garthenor blend the Polwarth with Romney and Hebridean wool to add depth, structure, and a gentle gradient of natural colour. Romney brings a touch of sheen and strength, while Hebridean contributes subtle greys that give each shade its own tone and character. The result is a series of undyed and dyed shades that range from creamy white to mid grey, with a handful of heathered marls and a dye palette that’s compact for now, but will grow again in time.

Preseli is 4-ply and worsted spun for bounce, roundness, and elegant stitch definition. Whether you’re knitting lace, texture, or simple stockinette, it elevates the fabric with softness and polish. On the needles, it glides; in the hand, it feels smooth, silky, and balanced. It softens further with blocking and wear, though honestly, it’s pretty heavenly already.

This is their flagship luxury yarn. It might not be the one with which you knit rugged hiking socks but for sweaters, shawls, and accessories that make you pause and smile, there’s nothing quite like it.
