In this class participants will start a Stacked Stitch project and learn this exciting technique in a way tailored to fit the mindset of a lace or stranded colourwork knitter. Stacked stitches are a type of increase and decrease used to create vertical movement within a row and extreme, wavy stripes without stranding on the wrong side of the piece or the use of other traditional colourwork methods. After an introduction to the basic principles of this technique in class, you will cast on a scarf or swatch and discover how each row of stitches fits together to form a flat fabric. You will learn how to move markers, keep track of stitch count, and to fix mistakes in a stack pattern. You will also learn to weave in ends at the end of each colour stripe to save time during finishing. Patterns will be provided
This class is best suited for Advanced level knitters or very adventurous beginners who prefer reading charts.
In this class participants will learn the basics of knitting with stacked stitches and begin a Fox Paws Wrap. We will start with an introduction to the stacked increase and decrease technique with some swatches in an easy stack pattern. After all this hard work, there is a colouring break where we explore colour choices. In the second half of the class, we will start working on our Fox Paws Swatches. Students will learn ways to check their own work and fix any problems that arise at home while testing out their new yarn and colour choice in the pattern. Patterns will be provided
This class is best suited for intermediate level knitters or very adventurous beginners who have experience reading patterns and working basic increases and decreases
