Join us for an afternoon learning the Latvian or herringbone braid. This textured technique adds interest and contrast to your beanie, socks, mitts, necks, hems and sleeves of garments.  It’s a great way to put attractive edgings on your projects and a smooth way to transition from one stitch type to another.  (We will work on using the sample we start so it can be continued as a pair of wristlets with the option of some Fair Isle after the braids).

In this workshop, participants will learn:

-  Latvian braids for the hem of garments (we will start a pair of wristlets)

- Making a braid anywhere in any project

– which side to start the braid on (yes, it matters)

- How to knit the braid on straight or circular needles.  (We will use the circular needle technique as it’s the one that requires a little more guidance, but all the instructions for straight knitting will be discussed, instructions given and the results demonstrated).

- how to choose colours that will work well together

(In the pattern you receive, there’s an option for colourwork or plain knitting for the body of the wristlet.)

Cost: $75 per person (this include two 50g balls of Bellissimo 8 yarn)

You also receive a 10% discount on any purchases made in store on the day.
